Izzy:
Q: How did it feel when you realized you’d been bequeathed the vineyard where you’d worked for so many years.
A: It was most definitely a shock. I never expected the previous owner, my boss and mentor, to leave the vineyard and business to me in her will. Of course there was a catch. And that came as an even bigger shock – I’d have to share the winery with none other than my ex. It was all part of Myrna’s bigger plan. She knew I’d never gotten over her nephew when he left for bigger pastures years ago. Her last act was to bring us back together. She always was a wise woman.
Q: What’s your favorite part of co-owning and running a successful winery?
A: All of it! I love tending to the vines, watching the grapes grow, interacting with customers. And the wine tastings! An added bonus is I get to do it all with the man I love.
Zayn:
Q: What made you leave town and the winery behind all those years ago? What made you come back?
A: I left because it was the best thing I could do for Izzy at the time. I still believe that. My mistake was to stay away. But it worked out in the end. My stubborn aunt who refused to give up on me made sure I returned.
Q: How do you handle it when there’s a difference of opinion between you and Izzy about how to run the winery?
A: I defer to the expert, that would be Izzy. She knows her stuff when it comes to wine making, she was even up for a prestigious vintner’s award recently. I’m sure she’ll win many awards in the years to come. I’m proud to have her as a business partner. Even prouder that I’ll get to call her my wife.

Q: What’s next for Zayn and Izzy? What comes after the last page?
A: We can’t be happier to have found each other again. So we’ve decided to pay it forward. Izzy’s first assistant at the winery has a crush on one of our most loyal customers but is too shy to do anything about it. We’ve decided to give her a little push. More to come.
